Richard “Dick” Graham has practiced law in Columbus, Ohio for more than 40 years. His “General Practice” has included transactional experiences involving administrative law, business law, commercial contracts, estate planning, health care, corporations (for profit and not for profit), partnerships and limited liability companies, real estate, tax, and environmental law.  He currently concentrates his practice in the areas of Contracts, Business Counseling, Real Estate, and Estate Planning.  His practice has included the representation of small businesses, including their formation, expansion and succession to the next generation or among the owners.  His clients have included corporations, non-profit corporations, limited liability companies, and limited partnerships, and the shareholders, trustees, members and partners who own them. Dick has the ability to take a complex transaction and see it through to completion.

Dick grew up in Alliance, Ohio and attended Mount Union College (now University of Mount Union) and then attained his law degree from Case-Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.  At Case-Western, Dick served on the Moot Court Board and was a member of The Order of the Coif in recognition of high academic achievement.

Upon graduation from law school, Dick came to Columbus and served for two years as Law Clerk to United States District Judge Joseph P. Kinneary.  Following that, Dick work at various law firms in Columbus before joining Gamble Hartshorn, LLC in 2001.

Dick is a member of the Columbus Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association.  He was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1968; and is admitted to practice before the United States District court for the Southern District of Ohio and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Over 40 years, Dick has a gained wide array of experience in various areas of law practice.  By way of example, some of the matters handled successfully by Dick include:

  •  Handling all aspects of two million-dollar-plus real estate transactions for a company in receivership;
  •  Securing significant real estate foreclosures for a Columbus, Ohio lending institution;
  •  Structuring an IRS section 355 Spin Off to separate a family business;
  •  Merger of two significant credit unions;
  •  Merger of two substantial accounting firms; and
  •  Concluding tax-free exchanges of vintage automobiles.
